It is a marvel of Arabian design, featuring stunning domes, intricate mosaics, and ornate carvings that showcase outstanding craftsmanship.

Its awe-inspiring interiors are adorned with intricate calligraphy, and artwork, reflecting the country’s cultural identity.

When was Qasr Al Watan built?

Qasr Al Watan was under construction for seven years, which started in 2010 and was completed in 2017.

Following its completion, the palace served exclusively for official functions, accommodating political and religious dignitaries.

How do you get to Qasr Al Watan?

Qasr Al Watan’s location is at Al Ras Al Akhdar, Abu Dhabi.

We began our journey at the Visitor Center, where we passed through security measures similar to those at an airport.

Afterward, we waited for a bus that transported us a brief distance from the Visitor Center to the palace.

The buses were both comfortable and readily available. We chose to start our exploration with a visit to the palace’s interior and then the outside.

Once you’re done walking around you can hop back on the bus, which will drive you back to the Visitor Center.

However, if you have a keen interest in history, art, or architecture and wish to study the exhibits in great detail, you might want to allocate more time, possibly up to half a day.

Qasr Al Watan offers guided tours (limited capacity) as well, which can provide additional insights and context to enhance your visit.

We spent about an hour exploring the interior and about 45 minutes walking around the palace’s courtyard and gardens.

Is photography allowed in Qasr Al Watan?

Yes, non-commercial photography and filming are allowed.

Including the interior and exterior of the palace, the gardens, and many of the public spaces within the palace.

Visitors are encouraged to capture the beauty of the palace’s architecture and gardens.

Therefore, be sure to bring your camera or smartphone to capture the stunning surroundings.

What is the dress code for Qasr Al Watan?

The dress code for Qasr Al Watan, as is common in many cultural and religious sites in the United Arab Emirates, is modest and respectful.

Wear clothing that covers your shoulders, arms, and knees. It is recommended to avoid clothing that is too revealing, such as short skirts, sleeveless tops, and low-cut or see-through attire.

Also, avoid clothing with offensive or inappropriate graphics or slogans.

I wore black, loose-fitting long pants, a short-sleeved T-shirt and running shoes. Did not need to cover my hair at any point.

The Emirates Palace

Despite its name, the Emirates Palace is actually a hotel. In fact, it is one of the most expensive hotels in the world.

It is located right beside the Presidential Palace.

Situated on a pristine stretch of coastline along the Arabian Gulf, the Emirates Palace is a true architectural marvel.

Its grandeur is immediately evident with its striking façade featuring domes and ornate design elements reminiscent of Arabian palaces.

Inside, the hotel exudes extravagance with an abundance of marble, gold leaf accents, and intricate mosaics.

Also, it features more than 1,000 Swarovski chandeliers throughout the whole building.

The Emirates Palace offers lavishly decorated rooms and suites and numerous restaurants offering a wide array of cuisines.

In addition, the hotel has a private beach, beautifully landscaped gardens, and a spa.

The palace is not only a top-tier destination for luxury travelers but also an iconic symbol of Abu Dhabi’s commitment to hospitality and world-class tourism.

Is it free to visit the Emirates Palace?

There is no entrance fee; you can simply go and explore the grounds.

You don’t have to book anything – no tour or restaurant reservation or high tea.

Some hotels or attractions only allow visitors to go inside if they have some sort of reservation.

It won’t take you too long to see the interior as you can only walk around the main lobby, you’re not allowed to enter the residential part.

Also, only the main entrance area is open to non-guests (where the stairs and fountains are).

The gardens and the beachfront are for guests only.

There is no Emirates Palace tour available, you need to visit and explore on your own.

However, there is a designated visitor’s parking area at the Emirates Palace, allowing you to park your vehicle even if you are not a hotel guest.

It’s a great, free attraction to enjoy in Abu Dhabi.

There are a couple of different cafes where you can get a snack and refuel on coffee – all visitors are welcome to take advantage of them.

It took us about 30 minutes to see the lobby and take some pictures.

An interesting fact is that the color of the building is inspired by the different shades of sand that are found all over the UAE.

In addition, the Emirates Palace is illuminated at night and is definitely worth seeing.

Observation Deck At 300 (Etihad Towers)

The Observation Deck at 300, nestled on the 74th floor of Tower 2 within Abu Dhabi’s iconic Etihad Towers complex, stands as a premier attraction in the city.

It is the highest vantage point in all of Abu Dhabi.

This observation deck offers unparalleled panoramic views of Abu Dhabi which extend 360 degrees.

In addition, the observation deck overlooks Qasr Al Watan, and the Emirates Palace (the above two attractions).

From this vantage point, it makes you realize how enormous Qasr Al Watan and the Emirates Palace actually are.

In addition, you see to the right the Marina Mall, the new Atlantis Hotel and the Heritage Village.

Visitors can savor this breathtaking vista while indulging in the comforts of a luxurious lounge, where they can enjoy refreshments and a signature high tea.

Also, complimentary valet parking is available, eliminating the stress of securing a parking spot in the busy Etihad Towers area.

How much is the Observation Deck at 300?

It’s essential to note that the admission ticket is priced at 95 dirhams.

However, it includes a 55-dirham credit voucher redeemable at the café situated on the 74th floor.

We inquired if it was possible to pay only to go up and see the view, but unfortunately, the admission ticket and the credit voucher cannot be separated.

Which means you need to pay the 95 dirhams no matter what.

However, the food we got and the beverages at the café were truly exceptional and well worth the price.

In fact, they were one of the best meals I had during my two-week stay in UAE.

Additionally, there’s an option to partake in a high tea experience for 250 dirhams.

Also, the Observation Deck at 300 was noticeably less crowded than the typical observation decks.

Therefore, creating a serene and tranquil ambiance.

We got the tickets at the kiosk in the lobby of the tower – did not pre-book anything in advance.

The Etihad Towers are truly remarkable, standing out as an architectural masterpiece in the city’s skyline.

The location along the prestigious Corniche Road provides stunning views of the Arabian Gulf.

Reflecting the UAE’s commitment to progress while preserving its rich cultural heritage.
