Today I wanted to share with you a cool experience called Dinner in the Sky that I had a chance to do while I was in Dubai.

I remember trying to find blog posts about it before we went, but I wasn’t able to find any which is why I decided to tell you about my experience.

They do have Dinner in the Sky in other countries too, but we decided to do it in Dubai.

Let’s start by answering some commonly asked questions when it comes to having a Dinner in the Sky in Dubai.

What is Dinner in the Sky?

Essentially, Dinner in the Sky is a platform with a table and chairs that are lifted by a crane (at 50 meters).

Once the platform is lifted, you are served a fancy meal while the table is hanging in the air and slowly rotating.

How much does Dinner in the Sky in Dubai cost?

The price depends on the day and time you choose to go.

Lunch is obviously cheaper than dinner. We did the lunch experience.

Is there a weight or height limit?

Due to safety rules and regulations, the guests must be at least 135 cm in height.

The maximum weight is 150 kg per guest.

How long is Dinner in the Sky in Dubai?

The experience takes approximately 90 mins in total.

The duration of the flight is 60 mins which is the time you will have to eat your meal.

Also, the staff needs to buckle in all of the guests prior to the flight which takes about 15 mins.

After the meal, the staff has to unbuckle all the guests which can take about 15 min as well.

How early should I arrive before my flight?

It is advised that all the guests arrive and register at the reception about 15 mins before their session.

Once you register at the reception, there will be a safety briefing before your flight.

What should I wear during the experience?

I recommend wearing comfortable clothes during this experience.

There is no specific dress code but don’t wear clothes that are too tight or revealing.

Also, do not wear a skirt or a dress because there is wind and I am assuming you don’t want to flash anyone below lol.

I wore below-knee white jeans and a navy tank top with white sandals that were strapped to my feet.

Also, keep in mind that there is no floor on the platform so wear shoes that won’t fall off.

If you show up in flip-flops (or another type of shoe that is not secure on your feet), you will have to leave them on the ground.

What happens if I need to use the washroom?

Make sure that you use the washroom before you get strapped into the chair.

They won’t lower the table once it’s up in the air unless there is an emergency.

In the case of an emergency, they will lower the platform but you will not be able to return to the table.

How high is Dinner in the Sky in Dubai?

The table is suspended a maximum of 50 meters in the air by a crane.

Do I need to book a reservation?

Yes, you will need to book a reservation in advance.

You need to purchase your ticket online at which time you need to select the timeslot you would like to book and what food you want from the menu.

What is the Dinner in the Sky menu?

The Dinner in the Sky in Dubai is a 3-course meal that includes a Starter, Main course, and Dessert.

The reason why you have to pre-choose the food when you book is that they need to prepare how many items to bring on the flight.

Where is Dinner in the Sky in Dubai located?

The Dinner in the Sky experience is located at Al Sufoh – Skydive Dubai.

It is beside the Dubai Marina.

Yes, that is where I did the skydiving – they are located beside each other.

I skydived a few days before we did the Dinner in the Sky, so we knew exactly where to go as we saw the table hanging from the skydiving field.

Is Dinner in the Sky in Dubai safe?

Yes, it is! The table was built in Belgium and all aspects of the experience such as the calculations and simulations have been rigorously tested for safety.

The Dinner in the Sky experience is now operating in over 50 countries and thousands of people have enjoyed it.

Also, Dinner in the Sky in Dubai is operated under the strict guidelines of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health and Civil Defense in UAE.

Therefore, you are strapped in your seat with so many seat belts that there is no way you can fall out.

You have a belt across your lap and two across your chest.

Should I do Dinner in the Sky in Dubai if I am afraid of heights?

I would not recommend doing Dinner in the Sky, in Dubai if you are afraid of heights.

One of the friends I was with was slightly afraid of heights, so she was feeling super uncomfortable in the beginning.

I am not afraid of heights and there were times when looking down made me feel a little bit uneasy.

Even though, everything is perfectly safe and secure simply the fact that there is no floor on the platform can make your palms sweat.

The Actual Experience

Once you arrive, you will need to sign in with the receptionist and wait to be called to the table outside.

In the center of the table, three cooks prepared and served the food.

And there is a person, sort of like a tour guide who tells you more about the experience.

The crew was super friendly and answered all of our questions and took a bunch of pictures of us.

The seats are comfy and cozy. Also, the chair spins left and right as well as reclines backward.

The question is, do you have the guts to do it!!

I did spin to take pictures but could not do the backward recline.

Once everyone is buckled in, the table is lifted slowly by a crane up to 50 meters.

The views from the table are stunning!! No need to crane your neck as the table will slowly rotate 360 degrees.

Some of the sights we saw are Palm Island, Dubai Marina, Ain Dubai (the big Farris Wheel located on Bluewaters Island), the skydiving field, etc.

The table seats a total of 22 people. During our lunch, it was me and my two friends and an older couple so it was not full.

The session gives you plenty of time to enjoy your meal and take pictures of the stunning scenery.

The Food At Dinner In the Sky In Dubai

The food was delicious!! Below you can see a picture of the menu and what I chose.

I checked their website and the menu has changed since then.

So if you are planning your own Dinner in the Sky experience, you will have a completely different menu than we did.

Regardless, the pictures give you an idea of what the food looks like and the portion sizes.

Before your meal, they provide some delicious bread and butter.

Don’t expect to be stuffed after this, the food was great but the portions are quite small.

It is about quality over quantity. Also, there were vegetarian options available.

Don’t forget that alcohol is not served in the UAE. Therefore, I drank water and orange juice.

The entire time there was music playing and we had a lovely conversation going among the three of us and the crew.

In the end, they give you a bunch of funny signs to hold. For example “I forgot my parachute”, or “The sky is the limit” which make for some cute memorable pictures.
