The neighborhood spans about 4 km and it continues to expand.
There is no Metro Station close by, which is why we used the Hop-on-hop-off Big Bus.

Little Havana is known for its art, food, rooster statues, Domino Park, etc.

2. Art Deco Buildings/Museum
Art Deco is a design style that was popular in 1910 in France and in the 1920s-30s in the United States.
It is relatively easy to recognize the style. It attempts to combine bright and bold colors with strong outlines and geometric shapes.
Also, the sleek architecture utilizes a lot of man-made materials such as plastic, reinforced concrete, etc.
Many buildings that were built in the Art Deco style have intricate detailing making them stunning to look at.
The best place to see some Art Deco buildings in Miami is definitely the area around Ocean Drive in Miami Beach.
Also, you can stop at the Art Deco Museum (located at 1001 Ocean Dr.) where you can learn more about the history and intention behind this popular architectural style.

Fun Things To Do In Miami For Adults – Art
If you are more of an artsy person, then check out some of the art highlights below:
3. Wynwood Walls
The Wynwood Walls are located a bit north of downtown Miami. The entire neighborhood is covered in large murals and overall has a hipster vibe.
Is Wynwood Walls in Miami free to visit?
It used to be free to visit the Wynwood Walls, however, it is not anymore.
The area that has the most famous street art, from artists around the world, is sectioned off and you have to pay to enter.
Personally, I wasn’t expecting that we had to pay cuz I thought the whole purpose of street art was that is available to everyone. Anyways…
If you don’t want to pay to enter, there are tons of murals that are outside of the paid area which are also interesting and worth seeing.
If you walk around and explore, stay on the busy streets as some areas can be a bit sketchy.
Once you enter the paid section, a portion of it is outside where you will see large colorful murals.
Also, there are 3-4 buildings where they have other art hanging on the walls (kind of like an art gallery).
A lot of the art is unique and innovative. Scattered around are sculptures made out of scrap metal or other interesting materials.
Also, we did a cool activity that was included in the ticket price.
We used colorful cans of spray paint and tried to do our own graffiti.
That was pretty fun as I have never tried spray painting anything.
How long does it take to walk through the Wynwood Walls?
You will probably need an hour and a half to see the whole paid area.
We walked around for quite some time as there was a lot of ground to cover.
Also, there is a gift shop on-site where you can buy unique souvenirs.
I got a postcard with the mural below.
The art displayed in the Wynwood Walls changes periodically so when you go you might not see the exact same art.
Also, here you will find interesting food options so if you are looking to grab a bite, it might not be a bad idea to look for something around the Wynwood Walls.
The area becomes lively at night, with vibrant bars and clubs.
Before we entered the Wynwood Walls, we stopped at a place called The Salty, where we had some fantastic donuts and iced coffee.
Totally worth the pit stop!
Is Wynwood Walls worth visiting?
Honesty, I don’t think it was worth the price.
The location is out of the way and we were told it was free but when we entered it turned out we had to pay.
If you are not on a budget and love street art then it will be worth it for you.
Also, the whole area is filled with murals so you can walk around and not have to pay.
👉 If you decide that you want to do the Wynwood Walls, you can get your ticket at: Wynwood Walls Admission Ticket
👉 Alternatively, you can opt-in for a golf cart tour of the Wynwood Area (not the paid section): Wynwood Art District 1-Hour Street Art Tour by Golf Buggy

The Barge was designed to serve as a breakwater too, protecting the estate from storms and hurricanes.
Tourists are not allowed on the barge, for preservation purposes, but depending on the tides you can see most of it from the shoreline.

It looks beautiful when it’s all lit up in the evenings.
The Wheel is open year-round, every day of the week.
We didn’t prebook the tickets, simply got them at the ticket booth beside Skyviews Wheel.
We went in when the sun was setting as we were planning to see the sunset.
However, the sun sets behind the tall building in the downtown core so we were not able to see much of it.
This is why the pictures look a little bit dark because the buildings were blocking the last sun rays of the day.

16. Island Queen Millionaire’s Row Cruise
The Island Queen Millionaire’s Row Cruise was included in our Hop-on-hop-off bus ticket.
However, you can buy the cruise on its own, it was about $30 US dollars.
It is a 90 min narrated sightseeing cruise.
Where do you board the boat?
The ticket booths are in front of the marina (it is easy to find).
Therefore, it departs from the middle of Bayside Marketplace.
This part of the trip was my favorite – the weather was perfect and the sites were beautiful.
The boat was a standard ferry-looking one and there were a lot of people on board.
There is a covered section (so you won’t burn to a crisp) as well as washrooms and a bar.
The tour was narrated in both English & Spanish and our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable.
The cruise goes around all of the small islands, some natural and some man-made, that are located in Biscayne Bay.
On the tour, you will see the luxury houses of different celebrities (which is why the cruise is named the Millionaire’s Row Cruise).
🎥 Here is a video from the Millionaire’s Row Cruise: Millionaire’s Row Cruise, Miami Cruise

Also, different bridges connecting all the islands to the mainland, and all sorts of boats & ships.
Another point of interest is the cruise ship port and the area where cargo ships get unloaded with these huge cranes.
In the end, the boat will enter the Miami River for a short turn where you can see some of Miami’s downtown buildings.
Highly recommend doing this cruise, if you get a chance.

17. Drive a luxury car
A lot of people, rent a luxury car in Miami Beach and drive it around and take pictures with it.
Some rent these smaller ATV-looking cars as well and play music super loud and rev the engine.
There are places all over Miami Beach where you can rent the latest models Ferrari, Lamborgini, Maserati, Porsche, etc.
Even the ones where you lift the car door upwards!
Keep in mind that renting those cars is pretty expensive.
Also, you will need to know how to drive standard gear for most of them.

Fun Things To Do In Miami For Adults – Day Trips
19. Visit the Everglades
Doing a day trip to see the famous Everglades is definitely one of the fun things to do in Miami for adults.
What is it like to go to the Everglades?
The Everglades National Park is located at the southern tip of Florida and is the largest wetland ecosystem in the United States.
When they hear the word Everglades, most people envision a large swamp.
However, the Everglades is actually a slow-moving river that is filled with plants, earning its nickname the River of Grass.
It is one of the most unique and important ecosystems in the world, providing habitat for many endangered species of animals and vegetation.
What is the best time to go to the Everglades?
The best time to visit the Everglades is from the end of November to April because that is the dry season.
Therefore, the temperatures will be pleasant and there will be less chance of rain and mosquitos.
Can you swim in the Everglades?
I don’t know about you but I rather not swim in alligator-infested waters lol.
It is actually prohibited to swim in any of the canals, ponds, and basins inside the Everglades.
The best way to explore them is on one of the airboat tours of the Everglades from Miami.
What are some of the animals in the Everglades?
Of course the main inhabitant most people come to see in the Everglades is the alligator.
When we visited, we saw a few alligators swimming in the waters.
You can mainly see their eyes and a small part of their face pocking out of the water.
The tour guide got us as close to them as possible and I took a ton of pictures.
We ended up seeing about 4 different alligators on the tour.
Also, we saw some vultures on Vulture Island – the Black Vulture (fully black) and the Turkey Vulture (has a red head).
There are other animals that call the Everglades their home.
However, we didn’t spot them during the airboat tour.
Some of them are the Burmese python (invasive species), birds, manatees, frogs, fish, etc.
Most visitors will see alligators, vultures, and a few other birds.
What is the best place to see alligators in the Everglades?
We went to the Everglades Holiday Park and saw four alligators so you should have a chance to see one at whichever entrance to the Everglades you go to.
The tour guides know where the alligators hang around and will take you to those places.
How large are the Florida Everglades?
The Everglades spans more than 20,000 square kilometers or approximately 7,800 square miles or 1.5 million acres.
It is considered one of the largest wetlands in the world.
What is the best way to tour the Everglades?
The best and easiest way to explore the Everglades is through an organized airboat tour.
An airboat is a flat boat with seating at the front and a large fan-like engine at the back.
It is ideal for shallow waters and the engine being in the back helps with it not getting tangled in the vegetation.
Keep in mind the airboat is pretty loud and fast.
👉 To book the exact Everglades airboat tour that we did, check out this link: Miami: Everglades Airboat Ride, Wildlife Show & Bus Transfer
Which Everglades airboat tour should I book?
Keep in mind that the Everglades can be accessed from a few different points.
The closest one to Miami is called the Everglades Holiday Park.
To get to it from Miami will take about a 45-60 min drive.
Therefore, when you are looking to book a tour, pay attention to where the tour is going.
Some of them go to the south entrance of the Everglades which is a few hours away.
That will end up being a full-day trip while visiting Holiday Park will only be half a day.
Also, some of them only include the airboat but not the transfer to the Everglades. If you are driving yourself then you can book those.
However, most visitors will need a transfer to and from the Everglades, so make sure when you book you ensure there is a transfer option.
The trip below includes pick up and drop off from two locations – South Beach and Downtown Miami.
Also, it includes a 45 min airboat ride with an expert guide and it goes to Holiday Park (the closest location to Miami)
👉 To book that exact Everglades airboat tour, check out this link: Miami: Everglades Airboat Ride, Wildlife Show & Bus Transfer
20. Key West Day Trip
We did a day trip to Key West, the most southern of the Keys in the Florida Keys, from Miami Beach.
How long does it take to go from Miami to Key West?
It takes approximately 4 hours one way to go between Miami and Key West.
This is why I would have stayed overnight or for a weekend at Key West if we had more time.
However, the drive is scenic and beautiful so it is not too bad.
The Overseas Highway is the main road connecting the mainland to Key West (the last key).
It is one of the longest overwater highways in the world, connecting all of the main islands with over 40 different bridges.
🎥 Here are a few videos I took from the bus:
Miami to Key West – Driving on the Overseas Highway Part 1
Miami to Key West Bus Part 1
What should I not miss in Key West?
We saw the Southernmost Point of the Continental U.S.A. monument and Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park and you shouldn’t miss either of them.
We saw the Key West Lighthouse, The Hemingway Home and Museum, and the Truman Little White House from the outside.
It seemed like a lot of the attractions had pricy admission tickets and we didn’t have a lot of time to go inside.
Also, check out Mallory Square where many people watch the sunset and there is a large market.
Also, don’t forget to try the famous Key Lime pie.
There are tons of other things to do in Key West such as beaches, museums, shopping, restaurants, etc.
However, you will need more than a day to do all of those.
How do you get around Key West?
There is this small train called the Conch Train, that connects all of the main attractions.
However, we decided to walk around but it was a lot of walking, and the heat wasn’t helping.
Therefore, I would recommend either opting in for the train (we didn’t because it was expensive) or only staying in the main area.
Otherwise, you will run around like we did all day.
We weren’t able to hail a taxi as they were all taken but we did use Uber.
I didn’t see any public buses anywhere but we did see a lot of people biking.
👉 If you want to pre-book the Conch Train, you can do so here: Key West Conch Train Tour
What is the best time of year to go to Key West?
The optimal time to go to Key West is between the end of November and April.
However, from November to the end of February it will be the high season because most people will want to escape the winter.
This means there will be a lot of tourists and the hotels will be more expensive.
Around March and April, the crowds are gone, prices are lower and the weather is lovely.
We visited at the beginning of March and it was lovely and the weather was hot.
The summer is scorching and it tends to rain frequently.
Avoid going in the fall (end of August, Sept, Oct, and the beg of Nov) because then it is the hurricane season.
Is Key West worth visiting?
We liked the day trip to Key West but we wish we had more time. If you can, stay for a weekend.
It is a cute city with a lot of things to do.
Driving on the Overseas Highway was an interesting experience as well.
